Having nothing but locals’ solidarity

When and why did you leave your country?

In 2017, following my husband

Where did you start your journey?

 In Afghanistan, Herat

Which countries did you travel through?

 Iran, Turkey

Why did you choose this country rather than another country?

We were travelling to Sweden but we are stuck in Greece; we still hope to go there.

What was your principal difficulty once you arrived in the host country?

There was no place in the refuges for us to stay so for many months we were sleeping in a park on Samos Island.

Do you have a job?

No, because someone has to take care of our four children.

Do you have local friends

Only one woman who is also my teacher in the Greek language lessons.

What do you like most in the host country?

The solidarity from the locals. Many people helped when we had nothing.

What do you do in your spare time?

There is no free time in my day.

What do you want to do in host city?

I would like to learn more about the available activities for children.

What do you think will help newcomers?

Not being in danger because they are not Greeks. We faced a lot of racism from legal services and the Greek State.

What do you miss about your country?

That I could safely practice my religion.
