Leaving my country to protect my daughter

When and why did you leave your country?

I left my country on 27th of July 2019 to protect my daughters from female genital mutilation.

Where did you start your journey?

It started in my home in Ivory Coast in Daloa which is a city about 400km from the capital Abidjan.

Which countries did you travel through?

Ghana and Italy.

Why did you choose this country rather than another country?

I did not choose France, my goal was to reach Italy. However, because of the reception conditions in the camps in Italy we went to France. Moreover, I speak French so for me it was easier as there were no language barriers when doing paperwork.
