In 2013 due to political executions (political refugee) against me

Where did you start your journey?

Iraq

Which countries did you travel through?

Turkey

Why did you choose this country rather than another country?

I did not choose it; it was the easiest European country to enter in.

What was your principal difficulty once you arrived in the host country?

It was difficult to cover my basic needs (find a place to sleep, supplies, and find administrative and legal help) as there were not many migrant organisations back then. I had also many bureaucratic issues.

Do you have a job?

Yes, I own a mini-market in Athens

Yes, my Greek neighbours

What do you like most in the host country?

The weather and the easy access to the sea

What do you do in your spare time?

I spend time with my family.

What do you want to do in host city?

Find a better place to live; Athens is not a host city anymore but my permanent residence.

What do you think will help newcomers?

Feeling safe and secure: having enough financial aid from the start and their legal procedures do not take long to be taken care of.

What do you miss about your country?

Feeling welcomed and that I belong somewhere.
